School in S. Giacomo via San Giacomo

This is the school where teacher and artist Adriana Filippi lived and taught between 1943 and 1945.

After 8 September 1943, Adriana saw the first soldiers of the 4th Army arrive in this small hamlet: they were fleeing to escape capture by the Germans. The teacher and the local population welcomed the boys into their houses, barns, stables and into the school, and protected them, regardless of the risk of torture and death.

In particular, Adriana and her mother Mariangela gave refuge and support to the partisans of the Boves Band who had their base in San Giacomo.
