The School of Peace was founded in 1983 and was created by the City Council of Boves with the purpose of promoting a culture of peace, based on a few key principles: rejecting the idea of war and violence; promoting equality between peoples, recognizing their diversity and respecting pluralism, encouraging dialogue between cultures; overcoming any attitude of intolerance and fear of the future; proper use of human and environmental resources, fostering peace through school education and in the wider community, including through the reinterpretation and readaptation of school texts for pacifist itineraries through History, Geography, Philosophy, Pedagogy, Law, International Relations and Ecology.
